- Airport check-in and boarding
- To avoid being denied check-in or boarding:
- You and your luggage must be checked in with the airline at least 60 minutes prior to flight departure. You may be able to check-in online and prepay baggage fees; visit your airline’s website for information.
- You must be at the gate at least 30 minutes prior to departure.
- We recommend arriving at the airport at least three (3) hours prior to flight departure to allow for long lines and delays.
- If you have an early morning departure, contact your airport to determine when the ticket counter will be staffed.
- Airline websites and travel apps are useful for checking flight status and receiving notifications.
- The mobile web app will include your flight information and confirmation number to use as a reference at check-in.
- Visit the TSA website for more information.
- To avoid being denied check-in or boarding:
- Entry/Exit System
- Approximately 72 hours prior to departure, travelers are encouraged to download the official Travel to Europe app and complete the required EES pre-registration questionnaire. Completing this information in advance may help streamline the immigration process upon arrival in Europe. For full details and instructions, please refer to the Coburn’s Lisbon website FAQs.

- Be sure to carry your valuables on you or in your carry-on.

Once you check in, your reservation is in the hands of the airline. If your flight is interrupted or cancelled while you're at the airport, please get in line at a ticket counter or service desk. While you wait, if you'd like assistance exploring flight options, call Coburn Supply Travel Headquarters at +1 231-421-7221, if you call outside of business hours, you'll be given the option to be forwarded to an Air Specialist. Once your new flights are booked, please provide Travel Headquarters with your updated flight information.- Most group flights will have a flight host who will coordinate with the airline and Coburn Supply Travel Headquarters. In the case of a delay or cancellation, please seek them out for assistance.
- Luggage Identification
Securely attach the Coburn Supply luggage tags you received in the mail to each piece of checked luggage. We also recommend enclosing a business card inside your luggage, as this may help the airline identify your bag if the outer tag is detached in transit. Lost or damaged luggage is the sole responsibility of the airline.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Attire Guidelines
- Comfortable travel clothes: Casual, loose-fitting clothing and comfortable walking shoes. You may want to pack an additional layer, such as a sweatshirt, for the flight.
- Smart casual attire: Slacks or dark jeans with a polo, button-down shirt or sweater for men; dress, skirt, slacks or coordinated separates for women. A jacket, wrap or sweater is recommended.
- Tour casual attire: Jeans or comfortable pants with a layered top, jacket and comfortable walking shoes. If visiting a church, dress modestly and cover your shoulders.
- Credit Cards & Currency
- Major credit cards are accepted at most shops, hotels and restaurants. Make sure your cards are valid for at least 30 days after you return home and activate them before traveling. Some establishments may require a minimum purchase or may not accept certain cards, so it is best to bring more than one.
- If you have not traveled recently, consider notifying your credit card company that you will be traveling to Lisbon. Credit card companies may place a hold on a card if activity does not follow your usual spending profile.
- The Euro is Lisbon’s official currency. For up-to-date exchange rates, use this currency converter.
- U.S. dollars are not generally accepted in Lisbon. Although major credit and debit cards are widely accepted, carrying some euros is recommended for smaller purchases. Euros can also be withdrawn from ATMs; check with your bank before traveling to confirm international access and any applicable fees. When paying by card or withdrawing cash, select euros rather than U.S. dollars to avoid potentially unfavorable currency-conversion rates.

- U.S. Customs and Immigration
You will pass through Customs in the first U.S. city upon your return. You are allowed duty-free purchases of $800 per person, so be sure to keep receipts for everything you buy. Duty-free purchases are only duty-free in the country where they're purchased. Since they're still subject to U.S. Customs duty, they should be included in your list of purchases. We recommend packing your purchases in your carry-on for easy inspection upon your return. You can find more information here. - VAT Tax Refund
A Value Added Tax (VAT) is included in the retail price of each item you might choose to buy in Lisbon. As a foreign visitor, you are entitled to a refund of this tax. The required minimum purchase necessary for a refund in Lisbon is 50 Euros per store purchase. The proper form must be requested from and filled out at each participating store.- You must bring each form, receipt and purchased item to the last departing city in the European Union. If you are post-extending your travel, have your form(s) stamped by Customs prior to departure. Do not pack your purchases in your checked luggage.
- Depending on airport procedures, your refund may be obtained through the bank at the airport, or, once back in the U.S., you may mail back your completed form(s) for a credit card refund.
